Midwich, an English commuter town known for its liberal and aspirational atmosphere, boasts affluent streets filled with families. Despite its laid-back vibe, this sleepy town is anything but normal. On a summer's day, the peaceful scene is shattered when a mysterious blackout sweeps through, plunging everyone into panic. People pass out without warning or reason, and those trying to leave meet the same fate. When the blackout lifts, life for affected residents appears normal again – until every woman of child-bearing age in the area experiences inexplicable pregnancy. News of this phenomenon spreads, heightening tensions among locals. Dr. Susannah Zellaby (played by Keeley Hawes),a gifted psychotherapist, steps in to support those impacted. Susannah's own daughter, Cassie (played by Synnøve Karlsen),falls pregnant, raising questions about the cause of this strange occurrence. Detective DCI Paul Haynes (Max Beesley) is tasked with maintaining order but knows there’s more at play.
