Corporal Rod Webb, a Canadian Mountie, is dispatched to Bear Creek to investigate the gruesome murders of three mail carriers, all of whom had been killed and robbed of lumber camp payroll money, with their bodies bearing the marks of a massive bear attack.

Corporal Rod Webb of the Canadian Mounties is sent to Bear Creek to investigate a series of murders and robberies of lumber camp payroll money. The mail carriers who were killed had been mauled by a massive bear, whose tracks were visible at each crime scene. Webb, disguised with his dog Chinook, delivers the next shipment of money and meets various characters, including Fergus McLish, Madelon, Jim Barclay, and LeRoux, a burly trapper who owns a trained bear.
