Wooden Crosses

As the drums of war beat louder, a young man takes up arms to defend his nation, joining the battlefields of World War I.

In 1914, Demachy, a young and patriotic student, enlists in the French army to defend his country. However, he and his comrades soon find themselves trapped in the brutal and endless trench war in Champagne, where they suffer heavy losses and are forced to bury their fallen comrades beneath wooden crosses.
