In a fateful New Year's Eve in 1944, a US pilot makes a reckless bet with Al Capone's nephew, promising to shoot down five enemy planes. When his plane runs out of fuel, Mike Clarke is forced to crash-land in a remote Irish village, cutting him off from the war and his chance to win the bet. With the villagers' help, Mike befriends a fiery redhead named Maggie, who teaches him that combat can unfold on the ground as well as in the air. As Mike and Maggie grow closer, they devise a plan to win the bet, while also winning each other's hearts.
