A black actor, Miles Pope, seeks a role in Othello, but his life takes a dramatic turn when he meets a producer, Leland Carver, who reveals a mob identity. After a close call on a plane, Miles becomes the only one aware of Carver's past. With the help of his friend, a makeup artist, Miles transforms into a white man.
