A widowed ruler, nicknamed "King Myself, First", demands his daughters measure their love for him. When one daughter responds "more than salt", he banishes her, misinterpreting her words. He assumes love can be measured by precious metals or talent, and destroys all salt in the kingdom. However, his arrogance backfires as he learns the value of salt and the essence of his daughter's reply.
