A struggling writer, Art, is denied sexual satisfaction by his wife Vera, who supports him financially. Art becomes involved with two sisters, Nan and Lauri, while Vera is away at work. Despite his attraction to both sisters, Art rejects Nan's advances and becomes involved with Lauri instead. However, Art still loves his wife and resists Lauri's proposal to run away together. Ultimately, Lauri sacrifices her own feelings for Art to bring her sister and him back together, and Art and Vera's marriage is redefined as Art takes a job in Chicago and chooses to stay with Jennifer, Lauri, and the group rather than his wife.
