Buster Keaton plays the role of an unwitting pawn in a jewel thief's scheme.

In this movie, two detectives are on the hunt for a cunning jewel thief who leads them on a wild goose chase. The thief, a charming woman, enters a hat shop where she models several hats, slipping a valuable diamond ring into the band. The clerk is tasked with delivering the hat to her residence, where he meets her lively maid, Odette. However, things take a turn when Odette suffers a head injury and the clerk attempts to revive her with excessive whiskey, leading to a series of chaotic and humorous events involving the thief, the clerk, the maid, and a parrot.
