The Saturday Night Kid background

The Saturday Night Kid

Two sisters, Mayme and Janie, work at Ginsberg's Department Store, where Mayme secretly pines for Bill, a store clerk. However, Janie attempts to sabotage Mayme's chances with Bill, while Hazel, another salesgirl, marks her debut in Jean Harlow's first credited role.

Mayme, a salesgirl, falls in love with Bill, but he's promoted and becomes distant. Her sister Janie, treasurer of a benefit pageant, loses racing bets and tries to cover losses by placing pageant funds on a horse, but accidentally bets on the wrong one. Mayme wins back the money by playing craps with Lem, and Janie's guilt and hypocrisy are exposed.
