In a plague-ridden village, Prince Prospero witnesses the devastating effects of the Red Death and decides to take matters into his own hands. He targets a villager, Gino, and his father-in-law, Ludovico, for their defiance, but Gino's wife, Francesca, pleads for their lives. Prospero brings them to his castle, intending to corrupt Francesca, and hosts a decadent masked ball for his noble friends. However, the evening takes a dark turn when he encounters a mysterious, red-hooded stranger, leading him to believe that Satan himself has joined the festivities.
