A former gunslinger, Jacob Wade, is reunited with his estranged son Riley, who is now a young man. Despite their complicated past, Riley has nowhere else to go. Jacob's attempts to settle down are thwarted as no town is willing to accept him. They arrive at Monolith, the ranch of Jacob's former lover Ada, whom he had no intention of revisiting. However, a mustang hunt brings unexpected romantic developments between Riley and Ada, while Jacob struggles with his deteriorating eyesight and the reappearance of his past enemies.
