A struggling writer, Solo, in Los Angeles, is dealing with writer's block and financial issues after a successful first book. He's also grappling with the aftermath of a year of psychoanalysis. In an attempt to cure his writer's block, his therapist suggests he get a pet, leading him to adopt a scrappy terrier. However, the dog brings new problems, including unpaid bills and a cast of characters who complicate his life.
