Archaeologist Dr. Bill Wyman leads a group of students and their teacher on an expedition to an ancient Indian campsite, where they stumble upon a mysterious stone tool that sparks an adventure. Their discovery of a stone tablet leads to the uncovering of a cave, which is home to a mummified corpse that awakens after thousands of years. As the creature begins to wreak havoc, a sheriff joins the group to track it down before it claims any more lives.
