Felix Farmer, a successful Hollywood producer, faces a crisis when his latest film, "Night Wind", starring his wife Sally Miles, becomes a major flop. The studio executives want to take control of the movie and re-edit it, leading to Felix's mental state deteriorating and his family leaving him. Desperate to overcome his depression, Felix plans to buy back the movie and re-imagine it as an R-rated sex romp. However, his wife Sally, who has protected her wholesome screen image, is opposed to the idea. The outcome is shaped by those around them, each pursuing their own self-interest, with even minor characters having a significant impact.
