J.D. returns to his Texas hometown, where he left his former fiancée Carrie at the altar four years prior. Carrie, now a deputy sheriff, is not thrilled to see him, and warns him not to return. J.D. heads to California for a new job, but stops to help a stranded woman, unaware she's an escaped mental patient with a dark past. As they travel west, the woman's true nature is revealed, and a trail of bodies follows. The FBI, aided by Carrie, is hot on their heels, but J.D.'s fate remains uncertain.
