A tunnel digger, Jim Ryan, is suspended from his job after a mishap during a photo shoot with journalist Katherine Grant. Feeling guilty, Katherine hires Ryan as her assistant during his suspension, leading to a clash of personalities and ultimately, romance between the elegant and sophisticated writer and the outspoken and down-to-earth digger.
