Tomoya, a production assistant, learns of Aoi's tragic death in a California air crash. He reminisces about their friendship, which began when he tried to poach her from her record store job to be near her co-worker. Despite initial reservations, Aoi took a liking to Tomoya and cast him in her student film, "The End of the World". The two developed a close bond, consoling each other about their love and career struggles.
