Mayday at 40, 000 Feet!

As a passenger jet hurtles through the sky, its co-pilot and engineer must work together to keep it aloft until they can safely land at a nearby airfield. But their task is made even more perilous when a passenger on board begins firing a gun, aiming for the pilot and damaging the engine.

A Boeing 727 airliner, Flight 602, departs from Los Angeles, bound for New York with a stop in Salt Lake City. Captain Pete Douglas, First Officer Stan Burkhart, and Second Officer Mike Fuller are in charge. Despite the captain's worries about his wife's upcoming surgery and a looming snowstorm, the flight is upbeat. The plane makes its scheduled stop, taking on new passengers, including an extradited prisoner and his U.S. Marshal escort. The Marshal, who has heart problems, tries to keep a brave face while dealing with frequent heart pains and a potentially violent prisoner.
