Lula, the Son of Brazil background

Lula, the Son of Brazil

A young boy from a humble background relocates to Brazil's financial hub at a tender age, eventually rising to become a highly influential politician in the country's history.

Luiz Inácio da Silva, the seventh child of Aristides and Dona Lindu, was born in 1945 in Garanhuns, Pernambuco. After Aristides moved to Santos, Lindu raised the children alone until 1952, when the family reunited. Struggling to survive, the children worked and studied at elementary school, eventually moving to São Paulo with Lindu after she left Aristides. Lula became a lathe operator and later a union leader, advocating for workers' rights and fair wages.
