In a small French town, a kindergarten schoolmaster named Daniel faces the consequences of a coal mine closure, which has plunged the local economy into depression. As parents struggle with unemployment and poverty, Daniel is burdened with dealing with the fallout, despite it being outside his job responsibilities.
