A young medical student, who has escaped from an insane asylum, assumes the identity of a deceased man to uncover the truth about a doppelganger whose picture he saw in the newspaper. His search leads him to a secluded island, where he stumbles upon a disturbing laboratory where a deranged scientist is conducting inhumane experiments on human subjects.
