A young office clerk named Lambert is pressured into marrying his girlfriend Violet by her mother, who wants him to support them financially. However, Lambert's heart belongs to Iris, the senator's daughter, and he secretly collects pictures of her from the newspapers. When a statue of Iris is auctioned off, Lambert buys it, refusing to sell it to the senator, who wants it back. This leads to a series of complications when a trio of gangsters gets involved, trying to sell the statue to the senator at a high price.
