A farmer becomes fixated on finding gold buried on his land, supposedly left by his grandfather. To achieve his goal, he moves a boundary marker, designating the area as a sacred site where all resources will be used for divine purposes. His obsession leads him to abduct an albino individual to aid in his search. Amidst this, his daughter-in-law is suspected of having an affair with a laid-off labor activist, while a local politician pursues his daughter's hand in marriage.

A poor Georgia cotton farmer and his sons embark on a quest to uncover the buried treasure on their farm, inherited from their great-grandfather, amidst the challenges of poverty, infidelity, unemployment, and addiction, which threaten to tear their family apart.
