The Nazi occupation of Vilnius in 1942 led to the devastating loss of 55,000 Jewish lives, with the remaining 15,000 survivors confined to a seven-block ghetto.

In 1942, Vilnius is ravaged by the Nazi occupation, leaving 15,000 Jews confined to a seven-block ghetto. The brutal commander Kittel, 22 years old, is tasked with administering the ghetto, holding the power of life and death. When he catches Hayyah, a former singer, stealing food, he sentences her to death, but later decides to revive the old theater and host shows to entertain the ghetto's inhabitants. Meanwhile, the Jewish Chief of Police, Gens, uses the theater and a sewing factory to secretly save as many lives as possible, making difficult choices that test his moral compass.
