Officer John Halloway's 45th birthday is ruined when he returns home to an empty house. Feeling frustrated and alone, he goes straight to bed. However, he's suddenly awoken by a camera crew at 2:00 AM, who are there to film a ride-along. As things spiral out of control, John is tasked with training rookie officer Peter Swanco, who claims to have passed his police exams online. But as the day progresses, John discovers that Swanco is not what he seems, and he loses contact with dispatch.
