Circle of Love background

Circle of Love

In the decadent world of pre-World War I Europe, a group of individuals from different walks of life, including soldiers, prostitutes, maids, actors, and aristocrats, engage in a web of illicit affairs, navigating the complexities of love, power, and social status.

Arthur Schnitzler's play "Reigen" gets a swinging-sixties update from eroticist Roger Vadim, set in pre-World War I Europe. The film follows a coterie of soldiers, prostitutes, maids, actors, and aristocrats as they swap lovers amidst opulence, captured in sumptuous color by Henri Decaë.
