Norrin Radd, a hero from the planet Zenn-La, makes a desperate bargain with the cosmic giant Galactus to save his home from destruction. In exchange, he becomes the Silver Surfer, a powerful being tasked with finding uninhabited planets for Galactus to consume. However, his humanity is suppressed, and he loses his qualms about destroying populated planets. The Surfer's humanity is eventually restored when he discovers Galactus' treachery and stops him from consuming Earth. With his newfound sense of morality, the Surfer breaks ties with Galactus and sets out to find his lost home, Zenn-La, but faces numerous challenges and enemies seeking revenge for the destruction he caused as Galactus' servant.
