Anne Shirley now works as a teacher has started writing stories but received many rejections. She meets a handsome wealthy bachelor who mistakes her for Rachel Lynde's cow, thinking it was Dolly. They sell Anne's story to John Blythe immediately. After realizing her mistake, Anne visits Rachel and Thomas Lynde together. Thomas dies and Rachel becomes a widow. Anne wins the baking soda company's contest with her own writing, acting as Diana's maid of honor but refuses Gilbert's proposal. Despite conflicts, she ends up teaching at Kingsport Ladies' College, encountering Principal Katherine Brooke and the Pringle clan. However, Anne returns to Avonlea.
