Michael and Joe become friends at St. George's School in England after Joe arrives as a refugee student. Both boys are Jewish, but one grew up in an affluent English home while the other experienced the rise of Nazi movements growing up. Their bond continues beyond school when they both pursue careers in film. Despite their differing backgrounds, they fall for the same girl and must decide whether to destroy their friendship over her.
