Jamie Godard, a young woman struggling with emotional immaturity, is haunted by her absent father and her childhood toys. She finds a job at a toy store and marries her coworker Charlie, but the relationship ends in failure. Jamie then moves to New York City, where she becomes a sex worker catering to older men with a penchant for playing fatherly roles.
