Two childhood friends, Dovidl Rapoport and Martin Simmonds, grew up together despite a rocky start. Dovidl, a violin prodigy, was taken in by Martin's family after his father returned to Poland in 1939. The friends' bond was strong, but a rift formed when Dovidl disappeared before a major concert in 1951, leading to financial ruin for the Simmonds. Twenty-five years later, Martin, now a successful music businessman, sets out to find his "brother" and uncover the reasons behind Dovidl's sudden departure.
