A German reporter, Ludwig, and his son Rolf embark on a perilous journey to America, forced to flee after writing truthfully about the Nazi regime. Along the way, they rely on an anti-Franco resistance network, and Rolf's loyal dog Adi, named after Adolf Hitler, becomes a crucial but troublesome companion.
