An 84-year-old Kenyan villager and former Mau Mau veteran pursues his lifelong dream of education, fighting for the right to attend school for the first time in his life.

The film is set in a Kenyan mountain village and tells the inspiring true story of a veteran Mau Mau fighter who, despite being in his twilight years, decides to learn how to read and write. He joins a class with six-year-olds and, with the help of his young teacher, overcomes the challenges and finds a way to overcome the legacy of colonialism.
