In 1960s Spain, a gentle and proud executioner approaches retirement, concerned about who will take his place. His daughter, shunned by potential suitors due to her father's profession, seems destined for spinsterhood. Meanwhile, a handsome young undertaker faces similar difficulties finding a partner.
