Two childhood friends, Finbar and Danny, from a struggling Irish town, face a turning point in their lives. Finbar's dream of playing soccer abroad ends in disappointment, and he returns as a failed hero, straining their friendship. In a desperate act, Finbar vanishes after jumping from a bridge. Years later, Finbar unexpectedly calls Danny from Sweden, prompting Danny to embark on an odyssey across Sweden to find his friend. Along the way, Danny encounters kind strangers, including Abbi, and rediscovers Finbar, but their bond has irreparably changed, ultimately leading to their lives going their separate ways.
