In 1941, during World War II, a group of young women in training are stationed at an anti-aircraft artillery point in Karelia, near Finland. When one of the women sneaks away to visit her son, she accidentally stumbles upon two German paratroopers. The corporal, Vaskov, takes five of the women to confront the paratroopers, only to discover they are outnumbered 16 to 5.
