Penny, a former poet turned prostitute, struggles to care for her younger sister Mary, who is suffering from an incurable disease. Mary uses her "Book of Stars" to express her feelings and inspire a Prisoner, who is touched by Penny's childhood poetry. As Mary's health declines, Penny must come to terms with her sister's mortality and find the strength to keep moving forward, inspired by the love and trust they shared.
