Terry, a small-time hoodlum, becomes embroiled in a bank robbery after serving as the getaway driver. He's told to lay low, but instead indulges in a wild spree with his new girlfriend Della, a beautiful but greedy party girl. As police close in, Terry's gang boss Bernie Shelton takes drastic measures, including kidnapping the only witness and sending a hitman to eliminate Terry. When Terry seeks refuge in Della's apartment, she proposes a plan: if he confronts Shelton at gunpoint and demands the rest of the loot, she'll flee with him.
