In December 1916, Indiana Jones, now a Captain, defies orders to lead a mission across the jungle with Remy and Major Boucher to retrieve a shipment of weapons. Along the way, they encounter a disease-ridden village and rescue a surviving child, despite Boucher's objections. As they journey back, the group falls ill and is eventually picked up by Albert Schweitzer and his hospital staff. Initially resistant to treatment from a German, Indy comes to understand Schweitzer's true motives: to heal the sick, not to wage war.
