In the 1800s, Captain John Reinke leads a slave ship from Africa to Cuba, accompanied by his mistress and servant-slave Aiche, and the ship's doctor Corot. Aiche is courted by Corot, who convinces her that Reinke intends to marry a Dutch girl and keep her as a slave. Meanwhile, the slaves, led by warrior Tamango, plan a revolt as soon as they board the ship. The situation escalates until Reinke orders a cannon fired into the hold to break the stalemate.
