A mentally unstable woman creates a fictional daughter and exchanges letters with a Marine stationed in the South Pacific, only to face the consequences when the soldier returns home and discovers the truth.

A disturbed woman creates a fictional daughter and corresponds with a Marine stationed overseas, leading him to believe in their friendship. When the soldier returns, he seeks out the "daughter" only to be told she's moved away. After being betrayed by an acquaintance, the woman's guilt drives her to commit a series of brutal murders.
