In occupied France, Continental Films, a German-run movie studio, exerts control over the film industry. Jean Devaivre, an assistant director and member of the French Resistance, navigates the studio's demands while secretly working to undermine the enemy's grip. Meanwhile, Jean Aurenche, a charismatic screenwriter, uses every available excuse to avoid collaborating with the Nazis, making his own survival a daily struggle.
