Return to Glennascaul background

Return to Glennascaul

Orson Welles shares a chilling Irish legend, inspired by a mysterious encounter he had while driving through the countryside one dark and stormy night.

Orson Welles, taking a break from filming Othello, drives through the Irish countryside at night and stops to help a man with car trouble. The man recounts a bizarre encounter he had at the same location, where he gave a ride to two women who invited him to their manor for a drink, only to find it deserted and decaying when he returned for his cigarette case.
