The film features scenes from Parajanov's banned 1969 film, The Color of Armenian Land, and reveals a shocking secret request Parajanov made in an unpublished 1974 letter from prison. The film also documents Parajanov's final day at work in 1990, during the making of the unfinished film Confession.
