After serving three years for a gang-related murder, Maraki, a middle-aged yakuza, returns to Tokyo and reclaims his spot in the Funada gang. Despite his loyalty, he's not enthusiastic about his life or himself. He reconnects with his 23-year-old girlfriend, Shinko, who wants a commitment, and returns to his old habits, including illegal gambling. However, he soon discovers that the gang has merged with their rivals, and a young, sophisticated woman named Saeko has joined the card den. Maraki becomes her mentor and protector, introducing her to higher-stakes games. As he spends more time with Saeko, he begins to understand her true nature and reevaluates his own ritualized life.
