Mary Adams, a woman with a troubled past, works in a waterfront restaurant owned by a man who cheated her father out of a fortune. After stealing $25,000 from the owner and serving a short sentence, Mary finds herself working for a new boss, Dragomie Damitrod, who gets into trouble over a gambling debt. Mary helps him by revealing the location of the stolen money, but soon discovers that he didn't steal it and decides to donate it to an orphanage. However, things take a surprising turn when Mary learns that Damitrod is not dead and is actually alive. In the end, Mary seems to be heading towards a new beginning with a fisherman named Johnny, who has been romancing her throughout her journey.
