In the working-class town of Quebec, the general store is a hub of activity as Christmas approaches. The store, owned by Antoine and Cecile, is a place where the townspeople come to shop and admire the nativity display in the window. However, amidst the holiday cheer, secrets and tensions simmer beneath the surface. Fernand, a clerk at the store, has a hidden agenda, while teenager Carmen struggles to escape her abusive father, who only cares about her earnings. As the townspeople prepare for Christmas, Jos Poulin's absence looms large. He left his loving family to work in a logging camp, but real-life challenges await his family, threatening to expose Antoine's insecurities.
