In the midst of the 2011 Syrian revolution, a 25-year-old woman named Nahla is torn between her desire for freedom and her arranged marriage to a man living in the US. However, her plans are derailed when her fiancé chooses her younger sister instead. Nahla finds herself drawn to her enigmatic neighbor, Mrs. Jiji, who has opened a brothel in their building.
