In 1902 London, Beatrix Potter, a spinster living with her parents, finds her passion for drawing animals and storytelling dismissed by her family. She eventually publishes her first children's book with the help of publisher Norman Warne, leading to a blossoming romance between the two. However, Beatrix's parents, particularly her mother, disapprove of Norman's profession and the couple faces a challenging path to marriage.
