A homeless man, once a successful businessman, is recruited by a medical student to undergo a surgical procedure called trepanation, which involves drilling a hole in the skull. After the operation, the man begins to see people with distorted appearances when he closes his right eye and uses his left eye. The student explains that these visions are a form of visualization from deep within the mind, allowing the man to communicate with people who possess a dark side in their subconscious.
